60 second meditation:

This is the part of the 31 days where we start to look ahead to 2024.

Put both hands over your heart, take a deep breath, and send yourself love. Hold your breath for a bit, just feeling your body filled with love, and exhale nice and slow, sinking into your heart. 

Keep your breathing nice and deep and slow and focus on sending yourself love, filling your whole body with all the love it can handle.

Being intentional, making plans, thinking about what you want to create in your life - this is all vulnerable work. It’s completely natural for some parts of you to feel afraid or nervous about this. That’s ok! You don’t have to feel totally sure and ready. 

Creative Dreaming is a function of healing. Healing will always involve feeling!

So however you feel is perfect AND while making space for all of your feelings see if you can find the most confident part of you to help you answer today’s prompt:

60 second meditation:

Take a nice deep breath. sit up tall, square your shoulders, hold your head high. Hold here, and then as you exhale slowly sink into the tallest version of yourself.

Keep your breathing nice and slow, being the tallest version of yourself, just notice how this feels.

Today’s prompt:

Are you ready to step into 2024?

If yes - yay!

In no - What would help you feel ready?

It’s totally ok to not feel ready and it’s way better to be honest with yourself than pretend you feel more confident than you do.

So, really sit with this. Where are the places in you that don’t feel ready, and what do those parts of you need?

Again today we are doing the love, gentleness and compassion meditation.

Hands on heart, take a deep breath and imagine sending yourself love, gentleness and compassion.

Because we want to move into 2024 in the best possible way, we need to tend to and process the hard parts, to make space for healing.

So, keep breathing nice and deep and sending yourself love, gentleness and compassion until you feel ready for today's prompt.

Today’s prompt is following from yesterday's prompt about what was hard this year.

What do you want to leave behind in 2023?

Yesterday you reflected on what was hard in 2023. What parts do you want to release?

We’ll be doing some deeper work around this at the Goodbye 2023 Releasing Ceremony on Dec 19 in the Dream Book community to take this work much deeper.

Today we are doing the same meditation as yesterday. Imagine a ball of iridescent light hanging above you.

Take a deep breath, breathing in irridescent light, to fill your whole body with light in all the colours of the rainbow.

Keep your breathing nice and deep and slow and feel your whole body sparkling and radiating all of the colours of the rainbow.

Today’s prompt picks up from yesterday’s prompt about how you grew in 2023.

What gifts and strengths do you have now that you didn’t have in 2022?

Take a deep breath and notice your heart beating. As you exhale, feel how ALIVE you are.

Keep your breathing nice and deep and slow and feel how you are always growing and changing, just like all of life is always growing and changing.

It can feel like you are staying the same, but you aren’t. Nothing that is alive stays still.

And as you are growing and changing, so are your dreams.

Take a deep breath and imagine roots coming out of the base of your spine, sinking deep into the earth.

Hold here, and as you exhale and imagine your roots sinking deeper into the earth and feel yourself becoming grounded. Really feel into this sense of how you are fully supported by the earth. Keep your breathing nice and slow and keep digging those roots in deeper.

Today’s prompt is:

What did you learn in 2023 that you want to bring into 2024.

Sometimes we learn through the really hard stuff, so if this prompt is difficult for you, lean into that connection with the earth, remember you are loved, remember you did your best and now you have the opportunity to take what you learned and use it to be in a better position to do even better in 2024.

Keep breathing nice and slow and feel into your joy. Find whatever rivers of joy are flowing within you and get into the flow of your inner joy.

60 second meditation:

Take a nice deep breath in and stretch your arms up above your head.

Hold there as long as you can.

Lower your arms as you exhale and imagine a sense of stillness coming over you.

Breathe into that stillness. Try to sink into it as deep as you can.

Reflecting back on 2023 may bring up stuff! Whatever feelings get sparked for you here are completely valid. Even the most uncomfortable feelings have a lot to teach us.

The prompt today is:

What did you try with your dreams? What worked? What didn’t work?

Hello 2023! New Year Journal Prompts

These New Year Journal Prompts are for reflecting on the year that passed, and using what you learn there to look ahead to the new year.

It's actually REALLY HARD to keep making new goals for the New Year if you're not taking the time to reflect on and learn from what happened with your plans for the year that is ending.

By taking some time to reflect on the year that has passed, you're gathering up the gifts and lessons so you can carry them with you into the new year.

These new year journal prompts also help you create some space for processing and healing the hard parts of the year that is ending, and getting clarity on what you want to let go of, to make space for what you want to receive in the new year.

I'm also doing all of this in a much deeper way in two separate calls: Goodbye 2022 and Hello 2023. In Goodbye 2022 we'll do an alchemy circle for releasing everything that would hold us back from creating the new year we want. In Hello 2023 we'll do an alchemy circle for clarifying and blessing our dreams for new year. New Year Journal Prompts Part 1: Looking back on the year that is ending:

What did you try with your dreams in 2022?  What worked?  What didn’t work?

What was amazing in 2022?

What are you most grateful for about 2022?

What did you do in 2022 that you’re proud of?

What did you learn/discover that you want to bring into 2023?

What was hard in 2022?

What do you want to leave behind in 2022?

How did your dreams grow in 2022?

How did YOU grow in 2022? What gifts and strengths do you have now that you didn’t have in 2021?

Is there anything you need to do to complete your year? Any unfinished business that you’d like to finish, and leave behind as you move into 2022?

New Year Journal Prompts Part 2: Looking forward to the new year:

Try to list 5-10 things (impossibly big or microscopically small or anything in between) you’d like to have happen in 2023, in each of these different parts of your life:

health * relationships * creativity * purpose/career * money * self-love/self-care * spirituality * happiness * adventure/play ***OR MAKE UP YOUR OWN CATEGORIES!***

I know that seems like a lot, but the act of listing TONS of things can really open up your sense of possibility and PLAY. So spend some time with this - I find it's best to leave this list out somewhere for a few weeks over the holidays, so I keep adding new things as I think of them.

When you're done, go back through your list and imagine how each of these things will make you happier in 2023. If there is anything on your list that won’t truly make you feel happier – cross it out.

Is 2023 a year to focus on One Big Dream or is there a bunch of stuff you want to do?  Either way, write out your Big Dream, or Bunch Of Dreams, for 2023.

Why do you want this?

How will you feel when you have it?

Do you already know how to make this dream real, or is this something you need to learn more about first?

What’s your plan for giving this dream what it needs to thrive in 2023?  Brainstorm 10 things you can try.

What do you want to STOP doing in 2023?  And what are some things you can you do to make that as easy as possible? How will not having these things in your life make you happier?

Then imagine yourself at the end of 2023.

(You might want to draw/collage/doodle an image of you from one year from now).

How are you different?  How did you grow?  What new strengths and skills do you have?  Does you-from-one-year-from-today have any messages or advice for you?

Today’s Journal Prompts

I had a dentist appointment this morning, and on my way there I went out for a chai latte and journaling.

In preparation for our class on Wednesday (Staying Stable In Your Relationship With Money When The World Is Not Stable) I focused on two prompts:

What helps me feel stable? (Which sparked some thoughts about the nature of stability itself)

How do I want to feel about money? (Which also sparked some thoughts about money in general)

Some of the ideas that came to me were surprising.

Like at first, I know I want to feel EXPANSIVE and FREE and CREATIVE and POWERFUL in my relationship with money.

But the longer you sit with a question, the more answers you get, and an answer I got later on felt more true.

I want to feel neutral about money.

Also stability fascinates me the way it’s not a dream of mine… but without all dreams feel impossible. I thought of the forms of stability that I take for granted because they’ve always been there, and all the ways I can call it in for myself. I thought about it on a larger level - how do we help more people in the world be stable enough to dream? Because we do need everyone to dream our way into a better future for all.

As I keep exploring, I’ll probably find more surprises.

What I want for my birthday

I just shared this photo on social media and I wanted to share it here too.

I turned 48 yesterday (had a really fantastic day which I wrote about here) and the thing I want most for my birthday is to make more art, write more, and share it more, and do it all from a deeper place.

This is kind of what I always want.

And it also always feels new because my creative dreams are always taking me to new places.

The reason why I wanted to send you this photo is my dress.

I do make all of my own clothes, I sewed and embrodered this shirt dress this winter.

This is the first in a new series of clothing I am making that are for the person that I am becoming next.

These clothes are a way of making space for this new version of me.

Space-Making has been on my mind a lot.

I created a new (very small and simple) program called Space-Making for people who want to join Dream Book and work with me but don't have the capacity for FULL ON MAKING IT HAPPEN right now.

Which, to be honest, is most of us these days.

Space-Making is this magical place of self care and restoration and healing - making space for the things you need and want, rather than Dream-Building which is the work of creating the path that leads to where you want to be.

I like to do both - Space-Making and Dream-Building.

But these days I definitely CANNOT Dream-Build if I don't Space-Make.

As stressful as it is to be alive on this planet right now, this is also a time of real potential for change.

We can create a better world.

I feel that more fully these days than I ever have before.

The intersection between creative dreams and activism feels lit up with possibility.

I wanted to leave you with a few journal prompts for the weekend.
