Journal Prompts for Finding Your Soulmate (Or Even Just a Date for Saturday Night)

Journal prompts for finding your soulmate

Finding love - if you want a long-term monogamous commitment or just a great date this weekend - can be tricky.

Often people think their dream of finding someone is not, like, a real dream. Like a real dream is something concrete that you can work towards: a solo show in an art gallery, a novel written, a trip around the world. A real dream is a thing where you can take steps, work hard, and get there eventually.

Finding the right person seems to be a lot more about luck and just waiting for the right time and maybe going on a lot of shitty first dates.

But finding your soulmate IS a dream you can work on.

Your journal is your best tool for making any dream real, including finding your soulmate.

Your journal is where you work shit out and create space to be able to listen to your own inner voice - who is the only knows who knows how to navigate your unique path to love.

(I have an AMAZING journaling + meditation class for creative people who are ready for a breakthrough - right here)

Journal your way to your soulmate!

You don't have to answer each prompt perfectly. Use the prompts as little diving boards to dive off into other things to explore – the most important part of journaling is following your creative impulse – that’s where the magic is.

Even when you’re not sure about your answers – stay in the process. The best answers aren't right on the surface, it takes time to get to them.

Creative Journal Prompts for Finding Your Soulmate (Or Even Just a Date for Saturday Night):

Ideally, my love life would look like:

If I had that I would feel:

If I had my ideal love life then other parts of my life would change and be more:

My love life doesn't look like I want it to right now because:

But if I am really honest with myself, the answer to the last question is:

Brainstorm a list of everything you could do about it:

Go through your list and pick out one, small, do-able thing that you could try in the next week.

The thing I am most afraid of when it comes to relationships is:

Some ways I could help make that be less scary are:

The thing I am most excited about when it comes to a relationship is:

Some ways I could invite that kind of energy/feeling into my life right now:

Take your time with this.  Really explore each question and notice where your thoughts lead you to.

Then explore your answers to see what they are telling you about what action to take.

Your path to love is going to be unique to you and the best way to navigate it is by listening to your own inner wisdom about how to move forward.

This is delicate work.

Love is vulnerable and terrifying.

Navigating the path to finding love is going to mean navigating a lot of uncomfortable and confusing feelings.

If you’re feeling apprehensive about exploring this – you’re not alone.  We’re all scared sometimes!

But fears don’t bother coming up unless you’re onto something, so if you’re feeling afraid of exploring this, that is a good sign.

If some fears do come up for you – you can check out my Creative Journaling Prompts for Overcoming Fear.

Holistic Creative Chat with Hali Karla

mar22-HCAndrea

Last week I got to have a Skype date with Hali Karla as a part of her Holistic Creative Circle series, which you can watch below.

I’m teaching in Hali’s Spectrum 2016 Holistic Creative journal (and more!) workshop this year (it starts on May 2),.

Spectrum 2016 is an online multi-media workshop & community, with weekly inspiration and exclusive classes for your creative practice & holistic awareness, including mixed-media art lessons, writing prompts and holistic-centered perspectives & activities from 45 contributors (including me).

I am really happy to be a part of this. ?Hali and I have a really beautiful kindred connection – you can see it in the video. ?It’s such a gift to connect with like-minded (and hearted!) people and create together!

My class in Spectrum 2016 is called Heartbeat.

Drawing all morning + falling in love with the guided journal + colouring book I'm making for @halikarla 's Spectrum 2016 creative holistic workshop. (You can join here: http://bit.ly/spectrumholisticcreative )

Heartbeat is?one of my favourite/most used Creative Soul Alchemy techniques that I use in my creative practice. ?I lead you through how to use it and talk about ways to play around with it and adjust it so it fits your practice.

Then I made a special Heartbeat guided journal and coloring book for it.

But the real magic of Spectrum is that you get lessons from 45 different teachers, so you’re exposed to 45 different styles of working holistically with creative practice – where the focus in on the inner/healing aspect and not on what the art looks like. ?There is a lot of magic to be found in approaching creativity in this way.

What I love right now

Spring is here and I’m riding my bike everywhere.

First day back on my bike! No there is not too much snow still! I can't wait anymore!

(Photo from early March – we don’t have snow anymore)

These Molotow refillable paint pens in my journal.

Lots going on in here lately. Stretching is such an interesting thing: all awkward and delightful at the same time.

Making dream altars and burning candles + incense at them every day. Calming, grounding?and magical.

Taking some time to get settled back in my home. Picked a @deepakchopra success card and got: I detach from outcome. Making that the theme of the day. http://bit.ly/makeadreamaltar

Feeling more creatively free ever since spending a week at Chris Zydel‘s amazing intuitive painting studio.

Finishing up an amazing weekend Painting from the Wild Heart with @wildheartqueen Thank you!!!

Being more structured in how I approach my weekly planning and goal setting and S T R E T C H I N G myself with my dreams. ?I’ve been doing this since January 1 and though it’s only been 3 months it feels like a long time. ?I’m feeling stretched and uncomfortable sometimes but also loving how committed I am to my own dreams right now.

Monday morning Creative Genius Planning Session: starting with healing + forgiveness for the disaster that was last week. Finding the lessons + gifts to bring them with me, leaving the rest behind. My Creative Genius Planning Kit creates deep connection t

My bedroom. ?I got new sheets in shades of turquoise and it still makes me swoon.

I'm feeling a lot better but still need an afternoon nap which is not the worst thing in the world. I do love settling in for a nap while the sunlight streams in like this. The south wall in the dream loft is wall-to-wall floor to almost-ceiling windows.

Hanging out with this guy. Being in a relationship is another thing that is really STRETCHING me right now, in a really good way.

Taking a little break from winter.

Working on the Year of Dreams Epic Playbook: Guided Journal + Coloring Book for Healing, Transformation and Making Your Dreams real. ?Three months in still pinching myself that this is my JOB. (This is available inside the Creative Dream Circle)

Getting new Guided Journal + Coloring Pages ready to send out -these go to my Circle members every Monday, all year long. I love them! Easy + playful invitations to dive into the magic within without having to face the blank page + figure out what to jour

Also:?Kiehl’s ultra moisturizer is keeping my skin from freaking out during the change of seasons like it usually does, picnic, beach + camping season is just around the corner and I just booked a trip to Mexico for the end of the year.

I was feeling a little overwhelmed, then I wrote this post of things I love for Andrea Sher‘s Brave Blogging class (and I got to meet Andrea while I was in California – that’s another thing I love, being able to connect with creatives from around the world) and now I feel calm and inspired.

Gratitude is magic.

Starting something new

starting

It’s always the same.

First, I avoid.

I’m “too busy”.

I’m “not ready yet”.

Or “I’m just procrastinating”.

When avoiding?starts to wear thin and I’m left with no other options, and I sit down to get to work, that’s when everything tightens up. ?Starting with my shoulders, back and chest.

I feel my heart tighten up.

I feel how creativity and inspiration can’t flow in the tightness.

But somehow sadness can flow in it pretty good.?Fear makes space for itself.

Oh, right, this is why I was avoiding.

Who do you think you are. You are not good enough. This will never work. No one cares. You’ll do it all wrong anyway. You’re not good enough.

Years of practice have taught me to offer love to the voices. To not try to fight them or disappear them or obey them.

Love them.

That’s when the tightness starts to open up.

Once creativity and inspiration can flow they get bigger than the fear.

And off I go.

PS: If you struggle with staring you’ll be glad to hear that on Monday I’ll be sharing the details of a new mini-class I’m doing called Resistance Rx!

25 things you probably don’t know about me

25

I am taking the Brave Blogging class with Andrea Sher and I promised myself I would dive in and participate.

I wanted to stretch myself with my blogging and when I saw Andrea’s class I knew that would be perfect.?Of course I could just challenge myself to blog more for a month, but being in a class?creates a totally different kind of container for exploring.

So I promised myself to do the work even when I don’t want to.

I mean I’m traveling to Northern California?this month and I am doing a thing I’m going to tell you about next week so some days?I won’t be able to participate – but on the days I do have time I promised myself I would do the prompts even when I didn’t want to.

And we’re starting with a prompt I don’t want to do.

I think it’s a great prompt and kind of a perfect one for starting out but it’s something I’ve always avoided doing. ?Which is why I should totally do it so here goes….

Thing 1: My first big dream failure

I went to Ryerson University in Toronto. ?When I graduated, I didn’t want to stay in Toronto and I didn’t want to go home to Winnipeg. ?I got a letter from a friend who had moved to Nelson, BC and her description of her life there made me want to move there. ?So I did it – I sold a bunch of stuff to raise money and off I went.

This was my first big experience of following a dream. ?It was a spectacular failure as Nelson is a super small town and was not in need a freshly graduated fashion designer. ?I did get a volunteer position in the costume department of the local theatre which they said would lead to paid work, but did not lead there fast enough for me to be able to support myself.

So I ended up back in Winnipeg, in my parent’s house until I could get back on my feet.

Now I feel like Winnipeg is the right place for me, though when I was younger I was so resistant to the idea of it that I wouldn’t have come back here if I’d had other options. ?This was the first time I saw that following my dream can lead me to where I need to be even?it’s not what I expected, or what I thought I wanted.

Thing 2: I wanted to do creativity workshops for 13 years before doing them

While in Nelson, when I was starting to see?that I wasn’t going to find a job and wanting?to get creative about how I could make money, I realised that what I really really really wanted to do was teach?creativity workshops.

I wanted to share the magic and healing of creativity that I had discovered.

But I didn’t know how to lead people through that kind of transformative process and didn’t trust myself to figure it out so I didn’t even try.

It was thirteen years later when I finally put on my first creativity workshop – by that point I was an accredited spiritual teacher and could use my training as a teacher to lead people through internal transformation. ?But it was a few years of giving workshops before I really trusted my skills.

Thing 3: I never wanted children but am planning to become a step-mother

I like kids but have never had any desire to have my own and have been pretty happy about this. ?My boyfriend loves being a father.

I wasn’t sure how this would work, but as I have gotten to know his kids something has kind of gelled there. ?This is the kind of stuff I don’t want to share on my blog as it’s not just about me so I won’t say more about it.

Thing 4: I am allergic to a lot of raw fruit

It’s so annoying?to tell people about this because most people don’t believe me at first. ?How could I be allergic only to raw things?

Well I am allergic to a certain kind of pollen and so raw fruits with that pollen bother me. ?Once cooked they’re fine.

I try to just avoid those things without mentioning why because I’m so tired of that conversation.

Thing 5: I started to go grey in my teens

Back then I was already dying my hair for fun anyway so it didn’t matter. ?But in my thirties it dawned on my that I was dying my hair only to cover grey – that I was deciding that there is something wrong with me looking the way I look (!).

Right before I turned 40 I stopped dying it. ?Now I’m almost 42 and all of the dyed hair has grown out. ?I get a lot of comments from people about how I should dye it so that I’d look younger.

I like looking like me. ?I really like not wasting my time and money on trying to change my appearance.

Thing 6: But sometimes I put purple in there

When I was growing out my grey hair, I bleached my dyed hair white and then just used purple dye on my whole head – it blended my roots in with the rest of my hair and the purple is not permanent on non-bleached hair.

Purple dye (I use this one?and blend with a bit of this pink) doesn’t really show up on brown hair but does on grey!

So now sometimes I put purple in with my conditioner and it leaves my greys just a little purple for a few days.

Thing 7: I once let someone get away with not paying me for a job because I was too shy to fight him

I got a job designing and creating costumes for a play. ?The owner of the theatre just stopped talking to me after the play. ?I left one message asking for my cheque and that alone was un-nerving enough I didn’t try again.

Thing 8: When I was a teenager my mom sent me to an assertiveness training course

It’s something my family still teases me about.

Thankfully I am plenty assertive now but when I was younger I was painfully shy.

Thing 9: I started sewing my own clothes when I was 17

My mom had sewn a lot of our clothes when my sister and I were little so sewing was always something that seemed normal to me. ?At 17 I started wanting to sew my own dresses.

I was having so much fun with sewing that’s why I decided to take fashion design in university. ?This is what led to me moving to Toronto (because?Ryerson had the only degree program in fashion design in Canada).

Thing 10: I really struggled in university

After having so much fun sewing it was kind of heart-breaking how hard university was for me. ?It was super competitive and most of my classmates were older and more experienced and I felt out of my depth.

Harsh critique after harsh critique started to kill my creative spirit and I started having panic attacks.

This is where I learned how perfectionism and focusing on the product instead of the process?kills the magic of creativity. ?It would be?a while before I learned what to do about this though.

Thing 11:?I wear almost the same thing every day

Two years ago I decided to stop buying clothes and to sew everything I need. ?I make a lot of my own patterns and when I buy patterns I alter them a lot.

But then my sister loaned me this pattern? (which is sadly discontinued) and I fell in love. (I have altered the pattern to fit better?and I’ve turned it into a v-neck.)

Now I have 6 dresses in that pattern – all different prints with some color-blocked and some not. ?So they don’t all look identical or anything but it really simplifies getting dressed!

Similarly, in the summer I have 4 sun dresses in the same pattern all in different?prints of light cotton voile. ?Once I find something that I really like I just stick with it.

Thing 12: Becoming creatively self-employed was my biggest dream come true – but after a while?it I felt really lonely

I didn’t have any self-employed friends and my new lifestyle was kind of alienating so some of my friendships struggled right after I left my job. ?Plus I was working alone and living alone – that’s a lot of alone even for someone who neeeeeds a lot of quiet?time to herself in order to feel sane.

At first this wasn’t a problem because I was working so hard and so happy with where I was. ?But over time that wore off and it started to feel lonely.

I used all the tools I teach to explore and transform my loneliness?which helped me be open to things changing.

Then I re-connected with an old friend who was about to become self-employed. ?He left his job soon after and we started meeting every morning for coffee and talking about what we were doing with our work. ?It was so great to have that daily connection and creative support.

(I’m typing this right now in a coffee shop and he’s sitting beside me)

Thing 13: I like traveling

I love the adventure of it exploring new places. ?I’ve been to every province in Canada plus the Northwest Territories.

And in the US to North and South Dakota, Oregon, California, New York, Texas, North and South Carolina and Minnesota.

And to Mexico, Guatemala, England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey and Egypt.

Thing 14: But I haven’t had energy for traveling the last few years

I’ve been really focused on my work and it hasn’t felt like traveling is the right use of my energy.

But I think my travel bug is coming back. This month I’m going to Oakland, California to do this workshop with one of my favourite people in the world. ?I’m staying for a week so I have some time to just explore and relax.

And later on this year I’m going to Mexico for my boyfriend’s brother’s wedding.

Thing 15: I once?camped in my parents back yard for a month

When I bought my Dream Loft it was a brand new building – I sold my home and got ready to move into the?loft but construction was delayed. ?This happened in September so I thought that was a cool opportunity to live in a tent for a while.

So I pitched my tent in my parent’s idyllic back yard (my mom is a master gardener) and had a great time.

Thing 16: I had my first wilderness camping experience this year

My boyfriend is a Native Canadian and practices the traditional ways. ?He can go into the bush and live there alone for months.

(I like camping close to little towns so I could go get pizza to bring back to my tent.)

One time we went canoeing – our aim was to canoe as far as we could, camp beside the river and then canoe back the next day. ?He had never canoed right from his home before, and I had never canoed ever, so we didn’t know how far we could get.

It turned out the twists and turns in the river made it hard for us to get very far away from his home – though the bush was really thick around the river and it didn’t feel like we were near any other people.

At one point we stopped to take a break for lunch and once we were on land he thought maybe we were near his sister’s house so he went off to explore a bit and I took a nap. ?Turns out we were near his sister, and he came back from his walk with pizza that she had just made.

So sometimes you can have it both ways.

And anyway I really like camping in the wilderness – no electricity or other people around.

Thing 17: And I got to sleep under the northern lights this past summer

One night my boyfriend and I were camping and it was really warm so I had taken the fly off my tent so we could see the stars (the top of my tent is mesh) and he woke me up in the middle of the night to show me that the northern lights were dancing in the sky above us. ?So cool.

Thing 18: I’ve been a vegetarian for 24 years.

I don’t?feel like I am missing out on anything and I have never craved meat. ?This is just the right way for me to eat.

I know if I ate meat I’d get more protein and probably fewer carbs and would weight less but that’s not that important to me.

Thing 19: I used to think?I could never be a cyclist but now I love cycling

I thought riding in traffic was super stressful and that riding a bike must really suck. ?Also I didn’t have the right clothes.

Then when I sold my old car and my intuition told me not get a new one, I started wondering about cycling. ?I thought I could use a bike just to ride to my local park on hot days when walking would be hot and annoying. ?I decided to get a cheapie bike to try it out.

Luckily my sister intervened and told me I had to get a good, quality, comfortable bike because?otherwise I would hate cycling and wouldn’t do it. ?So I got a great bike and fell head over heels in love with cycling.

From March – November I use my bike for my transportation?plus I just go for rides for fun. I average 20-30 km a day. ?Riding my bike makes me so happy (and I just do it in the clothes I have).

Thing 20: I hated the song Bootylicious when I first heard it and then later I loved it

That’s when I started to realize that sometimes?the things I resist the most are actually things I’m going to enjoy the most.

(Like cycling and cashew cheese and chip dip – when I was little I thought chip dip was gross but then I tried it and love it to this day)

Thing 21: When I was really struggling?as an artist I took an office job for a 6 month term. I stayed 7 years.

That job ended up being the best thing for me. ?Financial stability helped me build a better foundation for my creative work.

Thing 22: There are no closets in my home

The dream loft is 1,000 square feet with no interior walls (except around the washroom) or closets. ?I did buy one small IKEA closet for at the front door. ?But for the most part – I got rid of my shit so I could have a sense of SPACIOUSNESS in my home.

I am so glad I did this.

My old house had nine closets and I lived there 7 years and by the end those closets were mostly full of stuff I never used.

You know the thing about how you should only keep stuff if it’s either beautiful or useful?

When I was getting ready to move I only kept stuff that was BOTH beautiful and useful. ?Which means some really practical things didn’t make the cut. ?And I spent a lot of time looking for replacements and thinking about what “stuff ” would support me in living my ideal life.

No closet space also means I have to stay really conscious of how much stuff I’m accumulating.

This is harder now that I have a boyfriend who stays here every weekend and his kids hang out here on Saturdays. ?I have more candy and toys in my home than I ever thought I would.

Thing 23: I go to a knitting club where no one knits

It’s become our running joke – we plan a knit night at my friend’s house then when the time comes we’re all just too tired. ?So we sit around eating pizza and talking.

I try to be all “guys this is a knit night WE HAVE TO KNIT let’s do this!” but even I am starting to give up. ?It’s nice to get together even though I’m getting nowhere with the cardigan I’m knitting.

Thing 24: I bought a car mostly so I could go home early from parties

When I was younger and lived with my best friend and used to go out a lot more I always wanted to go home waaaay before anyone else.

When I was thinking of buying a car the thing that made me decide to do it was that I would always be able to go home as early as I wanted. ?It was so worth it.

Thing 25:?The thing I like least about blogging is receiving unsolicited advice

I believe very strongly that an important part of teaching is sharing the stories of how I live what I teach. ?This means being vulnerable and sharing the truth about my?struggles.

The thing is – even when things are hard I know I can handle it.

The reason why I share is to put examples out there of how you can work through the hard stuff and change it. ?You can use the shitty things as compost for growing your dreams.

But you can only do that if you stay in your power.

Unsolicited advice?says: I don’t trust you to figure this out. ?I don’t think your answers are inside of you, I think I have them.

And: I don’t like watching you struggle (because unconsciously it triggers my fear that I can’t handle my struggles) so I want to help you change this ASAP (so that I can feel more comfortable).

I know that is totally well-intentioned but its also dis-empowering.

Transformation happens inside the struggle so pulling someone out really just puts a band-aid on the problem and leaves true transformation out of reach.

Plus: I trust myself to handle whatever comes my way.

So when people offer me unsolicited advice I know they’re not really seeing me because they think I need their advice.

Putting myself out there and being vulnerable and then being misunderstood is uncomfortable.

I want to write more about this and why unsolicited advice is so rampant in our culture and how that is tied to unhappiness but I am still struggling to find the right words to say it.

Wheeee! Year of Dreams! Let’s Do This!

Year of Dreams Epic Playbook
The Year of Dreams Epic Playbook: Guided Journal + Coloring Book for Magic, Healing + Dreams Come True starts today and lasts all year.

I created this book for 2 reasons:

  • Coloring + journaling are my favourite and I want to share the magic
  • I wanted to make something special for people who have a hard time staying on the path

It’s simple. ?You can make your dream real if you stay on the path long enough.

But it’s really freaking hard to stay on the path.

Nevermind that you’ve got a lot of things demanding your time and attention and it’s just hard to make time for your dream on a purely practical level.

Growing a dream means growing your SELF. ?It means facing those voices that say: “Who are you to think you can do this anyway?” “If you try and fail it will be the end of the world” “You’re not good enough”.

Some days it feels impossibly hard to face that fear and shame and uncertainty and to bring healing to those dark places – which is the real work of making any dream real.

The Year of Dreams playbook makes this easier in 2 ways:

  • The pages will just keep coming all year. ?If you get off track that’s fine – it’s crazy easy to get back on. Just open the email next Monday, print out the pages and play your way back into alignment with your dream.
  • Each page is a secret shortcut to your magic – your creativity, intuition and inner power. ? They are very carefully designed to help you with the inner work that needs to happen to make your dream real in the outer world.??(When you’ve got the inner work successfully handled the outer work is a breeze)

I’m cheering for you.

2015 (AKA Best Year Ever) Year In Review.

January 1, 2016 marks my five year anniversary of quitting my last job to live my dreams full time.

Five years!

This year I’ve been having a really hard time sitting down to write this “goodbye 2015 hello 2016” post – because I am just feeling so much about this.

Five years!

I’ve built this dream into a stable and steady business that supports me in living how I want to live – in every sense of that. I mean having a meaningful and fulfilling and creative and expansive and deeply connected to myself with all the play and self-care I need kind of life. And also of course making enough money to make that happen.

(I do want to share more – a lot more – about this and I want to help you to create the same thing for yourself, so I will be doing a series of group coaching calls for coaches/artists/healers/teachers in February – this will be free for all Creative Dream Circle members?and only available?for Circle members.? More details?to come this month)

I feel proud and humbled and happy and grateful and when I think about where I am now my heart starts to sparkle. It’s almost too much, which is why I’ve been having a hard time sitting down and doing this.

But here I am.

It’s January 1, I’m sitting on my yellow sofa in the dream loft drinking an eggnog latte. It’s crazy sunny. I was up way too late playing with my friends and family and in a few hours I’m heading out of town with them to go play some more.

For these few hours when I’m alone I want to look back and look forward and savour it all.
Exploring Quality Time. What it is, how to create it, what it means for me and my dreams. http://bit.ly/yearofdreams

I’m going to use my Creative Journal Prompts for the New Year?to lead?me though this.

Goodbye 2015. Looking back:

What was amazing in 2015?

Oh my gosh!

Earlier this week in my Inner Work 101 post I wrote about how the purpose of inner work is not too obliterate fear or try to get to a place where you never have shitty days. The purpose is simply to get better at tending to our tenderest selves. Practicin
Grow Your Depth, Nurture Your Brilliance – my year-long advanced practice class on journaling. Because I was doing this class as my way of leading it I feel like all the other amazing things that happened spring from this work of digging in deeper and shining out brighter.?(This program is still available in the?Creative Dream Circle)

I released my first deck of Journaling Cards.
Today's #journaling card: What do you secretly wish for? http://bit.ly/journalcards

I stopped taking new coaching clients. ?I’ve always felt this tug between loving that kind of in-depth work and loving having a schedule that is not all “booked up”. ?I have enough regular clients now that it feels like I’ve struck the perfect balance. ?It feels really good to know what a “full” coaching practice means to me, and to have it.

I grew the Creative Dream Circle to the point where it feels stable. ?People come and go but?the overall number of members rises steadily. ?In the past there were more peaks and valleys as getting to stability does take time/work?(some of you may remember that I have been working at this for a few years – looking back from “being here” I can see that the slow grow is really a much better way both for me and the Circle. ?I still don’t want a huge influx all at once).

After being really happily single for a long time, I fell in love and began the process of building a relationship that is more nurturing, supportive and expansive than I knew was possible.
Grateful for a partner who likes to go for walks no matter how cold it gets.

We’re having lots of amazing adventures together including a canoe trip where we got to sleep under the dancing Northern Lights.

Epic weekend. Canoe trip was amazing and we even got to sleep in a screen tent under the dancing northern lights.

2015 was my first year being opening “out” as a grey haired lady. ?I did start growing out my roots in 2014 and then right at the end of 2014 I got a crazy-short haircut to get rid of all dyed hair so I started 2015 with my natural color. ?I am so disappointed in the messages society gives women about aging and?in how many women buy into those ridiculous stories?about there being something wrong with your body looking exactly the way it looks. ?I get A LOT of comments on my hair, all the time – even strangers tell me I should dye it – which just shows how important it is to have women out there with their natural hair, not giving a shit and also not being willing to marinate my precious head in chemicals every 6 weeks.

My mandalas were published in a coloring book!

I started skating after a 20+ year hiatus which completely transformed my experience of winter as I developed?a new habit – sunset skating on the river.

What did you do in 2015 that you?re proud of?

Well that repeats from a lot of the above – I’m proud of the life I’ve built for myself. ?But more importantly I’m proud of who I have grown into.

Today in Grow Your Depth, Nurture Your Brilliance: Early morning tea + journaling. http://bit.ly/growyourdepth
What did you learn/discover that you want to bring into 2016?

The real and tangible magic of holding the intention to deepen my practice and how that changes things without working with specific?intentions for what I want… letting that come from a wiser part of me.

Saturday morning in my creative #journal. Sinking into the last 3 months of Grow Your Depth, Nurture Your Brilliance and wildly grateful for the last 9 months of this practice. http://bit.ly/growyourdepth
What do you want to leave behind in 2015?

This thing I just noticed about myself where I tend to contract when I am afraid. I’d like to expand in the face of fear. My intuition says that this would be safer. It feels scary but I want to try.

Journal bed picnic.
What are you most grateful for about 2015?

The way it all came together. I worked hard to grow into the person I wanted to be and this year felt like less work and more enjoying already being there.

How did your dreams grow in 2015?

Magnificently. There are more creative projects I wanted to take on than I did, but that’s just normal for a creative mind – there is always more to be inspired about!

What did you do to help your dreams grow in 2015? What worked? What didn?t work?

That deep and solid container of daily practice. Meeting my feelings, doing energy work and journaling with my creativity and intuition. This always works.

This year I didn’t do the stuff that doesn’t work, I feel like I weeded that out really well in 2014 plus with Grow Your Depth, Nurture Your Brilliance lighting my path I stayed focused in the right direction.

This afternoon in Grow Your Depth, Nurture Your Brilliance: What's Important? Creativity. Trust. Peace. Calm. Love. Nurturing the things that matter. Aligning with what I want. Doing the things that bring me joy. Good list! http://bit.ly/growyourdepth

How did YOU grow in 2015? What gifts and strengths do you have now that you didn?t have in 2013?

I feel like I grew beautifully. I’ve been growing creatively and spiritually for many many years, what was new this year was growing in partnership. I grew my capacity for vulnerability and deep emotional honesty and feeling really truly loved.

Is there anything you need to do to complete your year? Any unfinished business that you?d like to finish, and leave behind as you move into 2016?

I just got a bill for property taxes for the last 2 years on the dream loft. Since the loft is a new building it took the city some time to set up each loft as a new property. I knew this was coming and had put money aside for it so it didn’t feel like a big deal.

But as I sat with this question I saw how paying the bill, symbolically does show a movement forward. Being settled here in my new life and everything that buying the dream loft represented for me: freedom and being true to myself as a creative person and living life on my terms and not settling.

Creating chaos. Re-arranging all the furniture in the Dream Loft. I love doing this whenever things change in my life. This re-structuring is happening in celebration of the Year of Dreams Epic Playbook. So excited about my work right now. http://bit.ly/Y

So, yeah I will think of that when I pay this bill this week and savour the beauty of being settled in my new life.

Hello 2016! Looking forward:

List 5-10 things you?d like to have happen in 2015, in each of these different parts of your life:

health

to keep enjoying: biking, long walks, skating, to keep getting better at cooking healthy foods and having them ready in advance, to discover more breakfast options, more yin yoga

relationships

explore the magics of intimacy and vulnerability, keep working with this book, more snuggling, practice being more open hearted with everyone, make more effort to get together with people,

creativity

daily drawing practice, to make lists of things I want to draw and work through them, sew some great fall and spring coats, sew a beautiful kimono, find more?creative projects I can do with my sweetie’s kids

purpose/career

keeping finding new ways to love what I do, practice aligning deeper with purpose and letting inspiration come from there, trusting other people to help support my growing business, creating another deck of cards, creating that other idea that I’m not ready to share, and that other other idea

money

I am so proud of how much money I saved in 2015 I don’t know how to expand on that, I do want to grow my income by 20% in preparation for some life changes in the next few years

self-love/self-care

fill two of these, breathe deeper more often (think of ways to create reminders to do this), drink more water (boring but this is what’s coming to me), keep exploring how boundaries are working in my life and where I may want them to change,?replace Netflix with?more nurturing forms of downtime, make more of my own personal care?stuff (like body lotions, hair stuff, deodorant, bubble bath) with my favourite essential oils

#creativeemergence Day 19: What's been bothering me lately is that through Creative Emergence I've become more clear on where I want things to change. Simple course correction. But I got caught up in the sadness of noticing that my dream is not yet here.

spirituality

daily meditation while experimenting with ways of tracking daily meditation in my journal, daily energy clearing and alchemy practices, ask for help more often, when I don’t feel that inner alignment – STOP (no matter what I’m doing) – and get back into alignment before going on with my day, be more consistent in my yoga practice

happiness

well when I am doing all of these things I am happy! It doesn’t feel like more is needed here so I’ll share a photo of a groundhog eating my cupcake from a picnic last summer.

Groundhog eating a cupcake.
adventure/play

Quick stop at the beach on the way to our retreat - celebrating my mom's 70th birthday with my family.
more beach days this summer (have already planned this with my sweetie), trip to Mexico, more picnics though it will be hard because I had a lot of picnics in 2015 but I want more still, drive out to the country to watch shooting starts/northern lights when they’re happening, be open to finding new ways to play that I like

(I’m going to skip some of the prompts about my dream because this is stuff I’m already writing about every week in the Sharing Circles in the Creative Dream Circle and holy moly this is long already.)

What?s your plan for giving your dreams what they needs to thrive in 2016? Brainstorm 10 things you can try.

  • deep alignment and letting all action come from that
  • walk my talk and share my story as I do (which is the only form of “marketing” I want to do for my work in 2016)
  • stay committed to daily practice
  • listen to my intuition and and act on it
  • remember that every obstacle is a gift
  • be more proactive about looking for miracles
  • diligent planning and making space for all the things I want to create
  • oh actually make more space for planning like every Monday morning ALL morning (not planning and to-doing but being in deep internal connection to the essence of my dream so plans come from that connection)

Hello Monday! Creative Genius Planning Session in process. Calling in Structure, Freedom + Infinite Possibilities for the week ahead. (Creative Genius Planning Kit is in the Creative Dream Circle: http://bit.ly/growyourdepth )

What do you want to STOP doing in 2016? And what are some things you can you do to make that as easy as possible?

Over the course of 2014 I stopped doing the things I didn’t want to be doing in my business. At this point I feel pretty grounded in not doing those things anymore.

I’d like to stop hesitating to tell the truth about how I feel, I’d like to stop interacting with anyone who makes me feel like I need to prove myself. Daily practice supports me in doing these things – it makes self-betrayal sting a little more.

Then imagine yourself at the end of 2016 (You might want to draw/collage/doodle an image of you from one year from now). How are you different? How did you grow? What new strengths and skills do you have? Does you-from-one-year-from-today have any messages or advice for you?

Me from one year from now is more grounded in her self. More confident, in a quieter way. Her clothes are nicer – all silky and gorgeous.

She says: radiate stillness.
upload

I get it. That is the perfect guiding light for 2016. ?Which is funny because I didn’t set out to find a guiding light for 2016 but here it is.

Radiate Stillness.

Year of Dreams Free Coloring + Journaling Pages (day 5 of 5)

My big project for 2016 is The Year of Dreams Epic Playbook: Guided Journal + Coloring Book for Healing, Magic + Dreams Come True.

The playbook is?designed to?shift your energy and?spark new insights and self-realizations to help you grow into your biggest, brightest and dreamiest self… and to make it fun and inspiring?to keep at it so you can?take your creative dreaming and personal growth skills to the next level.

I’m so happy and grateful about this – to spend the year building the ultimate guided journal and coloring book for creating deep and lasting change is my ultimate dream job.

I’m celebrating by giving away a page a day all week!

Since?December 28 ?I’ve been posting a new page here every day. ?Here’s today’s page:

Free guided journal and coloring pages

Click here to download the full resolution page – if you just save the image above you’ll get a too-small version.

Today’s page is more journaling prompts to help you wrap up your experience with these pages over this past week and forge ahead on your path.

As always, there is stuff to color to give you more time to soak up the questions.

A special note about your intution.

The last prompt on this page asks “What does your intuition say?” ?Well of course, you may not know.

The truth is, we are all intuitive. ?Intuitive is simply a matter of being connected to inner wisdom.

It’s something we all have, but how much you’re going to be able to hear and understand your intuitive voice will mostly depend on how much attention you pay to it.

When you work on cultivating your inner relationship with your intuition, your intuitive voice becomes louder and more clear. ?(Of course this is something all of the classes and tools in the Creative Dream Circle help with)

So, for now – just sit with the question.

What does your intuition think about the next steps you’re planning to take?

Pay attention to how the question feels inside your body.

Pay attention to the thoughts that come to you as you sit with it.

Give it time, something that “feels right” will come to you.

Your intuition is your most reliable source of information for how to make your?dream real.

Your dream is connected to your purpose, your spirit and your authenticity. ?Bringing it to life helps being you towards more of who you really are.

Following other people’s advice tends to take you away from who you really are.

See, if your dream is to open?up your own yoga retreat center and you find someone else who has already done this and then use their steps to build your dream – it will not actually be your dream.

It may be beautiful and amazing on the outside but on the inside it won’t feel like your dream because you didn’t make it your way.

Because you’re a creative genius, not a copycat.

It’s good to look at what other people have done and learn from them – and then create your own unique way of doing it by following your unique creative heart.

That way you build YOUR yoga retreat center, not someone else’s.

?(This is why intuitive development is an important part of dream-building)

You have unique gifts to share.

Your intuition, and your intuition alone, knows the best ways for you to share them.

So, sit with it?this question today to see how your intuition?can help you map out your next steps.

If you want to share a pic of your colored page on Instagram use the #yearofdreams hashtag so we can find you!

More magic is always on its way to you!

Your dream wants you to grow.

In fact, your dream will demand that you grow in the process of bringing it to life.

So working on your own personal growth is a super effective way of growing your dream. ?And trying on new perspectives is a gentle and creative way of encouraging growth which is what you’ll be doing with this page.

There’s lots to color on this page to give you more time to sit with the questions. ?The deeper you can go with this the more you can learn about yourself.

This kind of self-inquiry can have pretty amazing results…

Today’s page is a series of journal prompts about your dream. ?The purpose of these kinds of pages is simply to connect with your dream in different ways, to work on your inner relationship with your dream.

It’s that inner relationship with your dream that helps you build?the path to it in the outer world, so even though this work is invisible it’s a vital part of being able to create your dream as a real life thing out in the world.

Your dream lives inside of you.

It’s your purpose and spirit and authenticity and creativity all wrapped up together and ready to become an expression of you, out in the world.

In my free e-course Give Your Dream Wings I teach a process for connecting with your dream in this way. ?Use that process to connect with your dream, then have this conversation with it in your journal.

There are lots of small things to color, to spend more time in that energy of connection with your dream.

I find when I spend more time with it – doodling or coloring -?that’s when the really cool and amazing ideas start to come to me.

Today’s page is an energy alchemy process. ?If this is new to you, I teach how this works in my free e-course Give Your Dream Wings.

It’s about tapping into your intuition and inner power to change your outer world – through creativity and imagination.

Energy alchemy processes shift your energy – sometimes dramatically,?usually?in more subtle ways. ?But when you keep doing these over time you?can significantly change anything you want to change in your life.

Inside the Creative?Dream Circle I have classes that?lead you through in-depth transformative energy alchemy processes so you can better understand how it works.

To do?this page trust your imagination, just go with it and see what happens for you.

Color in the leaves/feathers around the container (you can read more about what energy containers are and how they work here) and imagine?that as you do this you are filling this container with the quality of love.

When the container feels full of love, imagine putting your dream inside it. ?Then draw or describe your dream inside the container to symbolize your dream inside this container of love.

Sit with it, imagining what happens as your dream soaks up the love.

Trust your imagination even if this gets really weird or feels totally fake.

Journal about what happens.

Then pay attention to your thoughts for the rest of the day – new ideas about your dream may come to you.

The playbook pages combine insightful journaling prompts and?energy alchemy exercises?with fun stuff to color and?space for your doodles and journaling.

Today’s page is a mandala with a message for you.

Sometimes the messages will feel comforting, reassuring or inspiring. ?Sometimes they’ll piss you off or trigger your fears and insecurities.

Whatever happens is perfect.

The aim is to be with your actual experience with the mandala, not to try to have “the perfect happy and inspiring mandala experience”.

Being with your actual experience will lead you to new discoveries and insights about what it is you really need right now to claim your inherent worthiness.

As you color the mandala imagine your colors activate its magic.

Pay attention to how this feels. ?Pay attention to the thoughts, ideas and questions that come up in response.

There is lot of white space on this page to journal about your reaction?to the mandala.

Keep going – especially if you absolutely hate the mandala – coloring and journaling and expressing your feelings.

Do?your best to trust that however this unfolds for you, this is leading you to exactly what you need right now.

And if you?re ever too busy to play you can just ignore the emails until you?re ready to dive back in, knowing that more magic is always on its way to you.

More magic is always on its way to you!

The Year of Dreams?Epic Playbook: Guided Journal + Coloring Book for Healing, Magic + Dreams Come True?is only available inside the Creative Dream Circle.

As you may have guessed, it does take a bit more than a coloring book to make REAL magic in your life.

The coloring book makes it easier to stay in the process while the classes, tools and resources?in the Creative Dream Circle help you build the path that leads?to your dream come true.

Free Coloring Pages Coming Your Way…

My big project for 2016 is The Year of Dreams Epic Playbook: Guided Journal + Coloring Book for Healing, Magic + Dreams Come True.

I’m so happy and grateful about this – to spend the year building the ultimate guided journal and coloring book for creating deep and lasting change is my ultimate dream job.

To celebrate I’ve decided to share some of those pages with you!

December 28 to January 1 I’ll be sending out one free page every day.

The pages will include:

* Insightful journaling prompts to spark new self realizations that help you grow into your biggest, brightest and dreamiest self.

* Creative Soul Alchemy processes to transform your energy on the spot so you can make more space for your dreams (while minimizing fears, doubts and obstacles along the path).

* Fun stuff to colour that is designed to keep you marinating in the magic of it all because amazing answers and ideas come to you when you spend more time exploring your inner world.

The pages are designed to be the ultimate BFF for your dream – to cheer it on, help it grow and pick it back up when it falls down.

Makes sure to sign up for my email list so you’ll get all the pages right in your inbox (and you’ll also get my free e-course Give Your Dream Wings).

In the meantime, there’s always the Creative Journal Prompts for the New Year to play with.
